What is Cloud Computing and Are You Aware Of The Different Types?

Technology in the recent years has shifted us to a completely new work environment. It changed the way we work, communicate and access things. Moreover, the advancements in technology created a personalized and sophisticated experience for people. Such a wonderful technology is the cloud computing. It has given a completely modern work environment to companies and business organizations. It eliminates the need to carry large files and storage devices in real time. Moreover, save a lot of money by reducing the complex servers and systems in organizations. Hence, it is more important to know about such a cost effective and comfortable cloud technology. Keep reading this blog to know more about the cloud computing and its types. What is cloud computing?

In simple words, it refers to the delivery of services using the internet. These services are servers, databases, software, networks, analytics and other computing tasks that are operated using the cloud. Additionally, the files and programs stored in cloud are easily accessed by the users from anywhere and at any time. It reduces the need of physical storage and other hardware.

For instance, in general, employees create documents and spreadsheets and save it in a pendrive or CD. He then carries it to office to show to Team member. He cannot access the files without that hardware device. Thanks to the cloud services, as now he can use cloud services and access whenever he needs. He just requires an internet connection.

Types of cloud computing

Without any surprises, there are different types of cloud computing. We shall classify cloud either based on the deployment model or based on the services it provides. Now, based on the deployment model, cloud computing is divided into three types,

Public

In the public cloud, the entire cloud computing infrastructure is located within the premises of the cloud computing company that provides services. Here the location of the cloud remains separate from the customer and he has no physical control over the infrastructure.

These types of cloud services use shared resources and have good performance in real time. And it is easily prone to various attacks.

One of the greatest benefits of public cloud is that the hardware is hosted and maintained by the vendors. This means that the customer need not want to worry about maintenance of the physical components. This is a cost effective solution as you are paying for what you consume. It gives the ability to scale the size the solution as only for accommodation and provides flexibility.

Private

This is similar to public cloud but has dedicated and private hardware. This means that the cloud infrastructure is controlled by the customer or the organization. It is not shareable easily with others, and it is remotely located. The organization has the complete right to choose the premise private cloud and it is more expensive. But it gives physical control over the infrastructure. It has a higher level of security and provides safe access. The cost is minimal, and the company can choose to invest on premise cloud infrastructure. The effective benefit of private cloud is that it enables you to control the entire solution without any issues. You can tailor your cloud computing preferences and internal processes.

Hybrid cloud

Hybrid as the name implies it is a combination of both a private and public cloud depending on the purposes. For instance, public cloud is used to communicate with customers. And the data and other files are stored in the private cloud with more security. Most of the companies use traditional cloud computing services with scalability and handle constant shifts with demand. But there are more possibilities for performance issues as there will be more work loads.

The hybrid cloud offers great advantages as it is a combination of private and public and makes cloud bursting possible. If you are running out of capacity on a premise, you can use a public cloud. Further, based on the services, cloud computing is classified into four types.

Infrastructure as a service which allows you to rent IT infrastructure from the service provider.

At the bottom line

These are the trending types of cloud computing and offers several benefits to the users. Nowadays cloud computing forms an integral part of any successful companies.
